Scenario
A dead couple's spirits are besieged by an insufferable family that has moved into their home, and they hire an evil spirit to drive them away. This is Michael Keaton's favorite movie. Otto's shoes when he's painting the walls of the house change from red fireman elf shoes to white sneakers as he walks through the bathroom, then change back to red elf shoes when he enters the next room. Adam: What are your qualifications? Beetlejuice: Oh. Well... graduated from Harvard Business School.
I travel a lot
I survived the Black Death and had a lot of fun during it. I'VE SEEN THE ECHORCISTS A COMBINED HUNDRED AND SIXTY SEVEN TIMES AND IT GETS FUNNIER EVERY TIME I SEE IT...UNLESS YOU'RE TALKING TO A DEAD HALF...NOW WHAT ARE YOU THINKING? Do you think I'm qualified? The Geffen logo is accompanied by an eerie version of Banana Boat (sung by film composer Danny Elfman). A print copy of the film has surfaced with some added/alternate scenes. This version of the film is about 2 minutes shorter than the theatrical release, has some extra scenes and others missing, is in black and white, and has a timecode at the bottom. This version has 4 main differences: Alternate Scene: The scene where Adam tries to leave the house after he and his wife die is different.
Edited in Horror Toons (2002)
Instead of a desert, he sees an empty darkness full of cogs. Bonus Scenes: There is a bonus scene where Lydia develops the photos she took of Adam and Barbra. So after her mother yells at her and blames her for putting holes in the sheets, Lydia runs upstairs and tries to convince her father that the photos are real. There's more to the scene where the adults search for ghosts in the attic, and we see a desert monster try to eat Adam and Barbra while they're hanging from the attic window. Finally, there's an extra 2 minute scene at the end where we see Lydia riding her bike home from school and her parents talking to Jane on the phone saying they don't want to sell the house. Lydia's dance scene is shorter in this version, and there is no scene with Beetlejuice in the waiting room. The film ends with a final exterior shot of the house.
Day-OTraditional, lyrics by William A
Attaway & Irving Burge [Wrongly credited as written by William A. Attaway & Irving Burgie (as Lord Burgess)] Performed by Harry Belafonte courtesy of RCA Records. This is a great movie to just watch and enjoy - no need to think or analyze - just enjoy the silliness and cool factor of this good movie. A young couple living in their dream house (Alec Baldwin and Gina Davis) are accidentally killed and then live as ghosts in the house. After a while, a family of freaks (Jeffery Jones, Catherine O'Hara) and their disaffected daughter (Winona Ryder) move in, much to the ghosts' chagrin. That's because instead of respecting the charm of the sweet home, the parents want to turn it into a pseudo-intellectual freak house. However, Winona somehow manages to see and communicate with the ghosts - but her parents cannot believe that they exist or that they are doing something wrong with the house.
The actors also do a great job
The dead couple try to scare the family, but their attempts are really weak (and funny), and it only makes the weirdos want to hook up even more! So, in desperation, they turn to the most evil and ugliest ghost, Beetlejuice (Michael Keaton) for help. The problem is, while Beetle Juice can scare anyone, he's also a complete maniac, and once he's unleashed, he's incredibly hard to stop. The film is filled with many of the things you'd expect from a Tim Burton-directed film - weird special effects, weird set design (after the weirdos remodel the house), fun and a certain "cool factor".
