Pure joy watching this Colombian cinematic marvel. The screen adaptation exceeded my expectations and removed all fears about the potentially disastrous attempt to make a decent film out of such a cold “unfilmable” novel. It looks absolutely authentic and magical to my eyes. Bravo to the Colombian creators and crew for the very careful, thoughtful, and delicate adaptation of one of the most beautiful novels ever written! The cinematography is remarkable and shows the beauty of Colombia very vividly. The costumes, the colonial architecture, the interior design of the buildings and the carefully chosen musical portrait all together, an unforgettable atmosphere of Colombian magic in every detail..
