Sylvester Stallone's first television series appearance

Scenario

After being released from prison after 25 years, New York mob boss Dwight "The General" Manfredi is deported to Tulsa, Oklahoma.. The opening credits sequence features various photographs and painted scenes, as well as Oklahoma landmarks superimposed on the New York landscape: the statue of the Sioux Indian chief "Touch the Clouds"; Major wears the War Bonnet and Bone Choker necklace (chest plate) placed atop the Golden Digger statue on the Brooklyn Bridge, which is placed atop the statue of the Western Gateway Arch on Route 66, which is placed on Manhattan's "Avenue".

Tulsa King delivers

Honestly, I was pleasantly surprised

The classic fish-out-of-water scene is played well. And the first episode does a great job of creating something of a star. Right from the start, the plot starts to weave together.

No CGI to be sure

We'll see how the season plays out, but so far it's a nice change of pace from other recent series debuts. Simply great characters, authentic dialogue, a clever story, and a first-class cast.
