The series moves the action to the modern era

Scenario

The Jackal is an elusive killer who earns his living by killing for the highest payment. Soon he meets his worthy rival in the face of a persistent British intelligence officer, who pursues him in an exciting cat-and-mouse chase across Europe. The action of the novel “Day of the Jackal” takes place in 1963 and tells about the attempt on the then president of France, Charles de Gaulle.

Remake of the film “Day of the Jackal” (1973)

At first I noticed some confusion surrounding The Day of the Jackal, as many mistook it for a remake of the 1997 movie Jackal starring Bruce Willis and Richard Gere. It’s funny that this misconception led to some people dismissing this series as bad without giving it a fair chance. As a person who prefers mini-series of 6-8 episodes, I sincerely hope that this series will not have a stupid intrigue and will not unnecessarily stretch the story for the second season.

However, the choice of the main female role worries me the most

Five episodes have passed, and I must say that this is a solid show. I would have preferred all series to be released at the same time; it would increase the sense of realism, increase the tension and intuitive intensity of the plot. There is one intriguing feature that makes you feel that the story may not be entirely fictional.

Despite this, “Day of the Jackal” has potential and is worth watching

It seems that he is not suitable for the role of an MI6 agent; both his personality and body type do not correspond to what I imagine for such a character. Although she’s meant to represent the opposite side of the moral spectrum, she comes off as downright awful, more morally corrupt than the titular Jackal. This made me hope for her downfall, rather than rooting for her, which detracts from my overall enjoyment of the series.
